Field Trials
Drehmag Centering Units have been tested on lots of bars having different sections and in-depth studies have been carried on in order to find the suitable material for the jaws.
Drehmag can now offer a smart and high reliable solution: a device which is at the same time extremely strong and very easy to assemble and disassemble, to grant every customer a working process with extremely low noise and vibration.

Two lines for every need
Drehmag extends the range of its Centering Units adding to the C1-G Line, designed for bars up to 2/3 of the loader channel diameter, the C1-S Line, designed for centering bars with a bigger diameter.
The C1-G Centering Unit has a wider range of working and, applying to small bars in comparison to the loader channel, is suitable for most cases. As a skilled worker knows, although, sometimes it is necessary to center a bar having a large diameter in comparison to the loader channel: a typical example is an hexagonal bar with a key close to the loader channel, whose vibrations, although small, stress the lathe collet and its grip, which may lead to inaccuracies in the length or in the surface of the part (for instance in case of deep front drilling). In such cases the C1-S Centering Unit grants a reliable solution to the problem.
Centering Unit C1-G
Our Centering Unit C1-G is made of a turning base fixed on the loader or on the lathe and of a plastic body containing a couple of high-resistant plastic jaws. When the jaws come close to each other, they create a channel whose diameter is only a little bit larger than the bar and guide the bar with high precision during the working process. When the bar pusher comes close, the jaws open up in order to let it go through and, when the bar is finished, a spring pushes the jaws close to each other again, ready for a new bar.
By pushing two buttons, the body of the Centering Unit can be easily disassembled from its turning base so that the jaws can be removed and changed.
Our C1-G Centering Unit can also be used for bars whose section is not round. For hexagonal bars, for instance, we provide jaws with an hexagonal shape, which fits with minimum game the bar shape. It's the bar itself which, during the working process, makes the centering unit spin without any friction. The same happens with square bars.

Centering Unit C1-S
The C1-S Centering Unit is fixed on the same turning base of the C1-G Unit and it is made of a plastic body containing a sled in which three cylinders can radially slide. Such cylinders, coming close to each other, create a channel whose diameter is only a little bit larger than the bar and guide the bar with high precision during the working process. When the bar pusher comes close, the cylinders move away in order to let it go through and, when the bar is finished, a spring pushes the cylinders back in the previous position, ready for a new bar.
The C1-S Centering Unit is suitable for round or hexagonal bars.
Drehmag Centering Units are available in five sizes: from bar size 14 (C14) to bar size 65 (C65). Other sizes on request.
The chart shows available sizes and room required: L. utile is the quote required in order to release the body of the Centering Unit from its turning base.
